Terms of service

These terms set out the basis on which The Remote Therapy Space website operates and the basic rules around using the site and booking a consultation. They form an agreement between you (the visitor or prospective client) and Chris Hutchins-Joss, trading as The Remote Therapy Space.

By using this website you agree to these terms. If you don’t agree, please don’t use the site.

These terms cover website use and pre-engagement contact. If you go on to start therapy with me, we’ll agree a separate, fuller therapy contract that sets out fees, session format, cancellation, confidentiality, and the rest of the practical detail.

About the practice

The Remote Therapy Space is a private psychological therapy practice, owned and operated by Chris Hutchins-Joss as a sole trader. I am BABCP-accredited and registered with the ICO as a data controller (registration number ZB619438).

Important: not a crisis or emergency service

This website and my private practice are not a substitute for emergency mental health support, and they are not a crisis service.

If you are in immediate danger, or worried someone else is, please contact:

  • 999 for emergencies, or attend your nearest A&E.
  • NHS 111 for urgent but non-emergency mental health support. Press option 2 in many regions for the mental health crisis line.
  • Samaritans on 116 123 (free, 24/7, confidential listening), or www.samaritans.org.
  • Shout on 85258 (free, 24/7 text-message support).

I do not provide between-session crisis support, and I am not contactable out of hours. If you are an active client and you experience a crisis between sessions, please use the resources above.

Using this website

You may use this website for personal, non-commercial information about my services. You may not:

  • Copy, reproduce, or redistribute substantial parts of the content for commercial use without written permission.
  • Use the site in any way that could damage, disable, or impair its function.
  • Attempt to gain unauthorised access to the site, its server, or any connected database.

The information on this website is intended as general information about my practice. It is not personal clinical advice, and reading the website does not create a therapeutic relationship between us.

Booking a free consultation

The free 15-minute consultation is a short video call to talk through what you’re hoping might shift and whether I’m the right person to support that. Booking a consultation does not commit you to ongoing therapy, and it doesn’t commit me either. Either of us can decide it isn’t the right fit.

If we both decide to proceed, I’ll send you a separate therapy contract that sets out the practical terms of working together.

Therapy sessions and the engagement contract

If you start therapy with me, we’ll agree a separate written contract that covers:

  • Fees and payment terms.
  • Session length and frequency.
  • Cancellation policy and missed sessions.
  • Confidentiality and the limited circumstances where it might need to be broken.
  • How I handle clinical records.
  • How either of us can end the work.

That contract sits alongside (and takes precedence over) these website terms for matters relating to ongoing therapy.

Intellectual property

All content on this website (text, images, layout, branding) is owned by Chris Hutchins-Joss or used under licence. You may share links to pages on this site freely. You may quote short extracts with attribution. Larger reuse needs written permission.

Limitation of liability

I take care to make sure information on this website is accurate, but I make no specific warranties about its completeness or suitability for any particular purpose. The website is provided “as is”.

To the extent permitted by law, I am not liable for indirect or consequential losses arising from your use of the website itself (for example, losses from a broken link or a temporary outage). Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraudulent misrepresentation, or for anything else where limitation would be unlawful under UK law.

The clinical work itself is governed by my professional indemnity insurance and by the separate therapy contract, not by this website terms-of-service page.

Links to other websites

The site may link to external resources (NHS, BABCP, Samaritans, journal articles, books, and so on). These are provided as useful pointers. I don’t control those sites and don’t take responsibility for their content, accuracy, or privacy practices.

Changes to these terms

I may update these terms from time to time. The “last updated” date below shows when the most recent change was made. Significant changes affecting active clients will be communicated directly.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. Any dispute arising from your use of this website is subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
