How a consultation goes
Before
You don’t need to prepare anything. Just be somewhere private with a stable connection. No forms, no questionnaires, nothing to fill in.
During
I’ll ask what’s been bringing this up for you, what you’re hoping might change, and what you’ve already tried. You can ask anything you want about how I work. There’s no script, and no obligation to share more than feels comfortable.
After
If we both think it’s a fit, I’ll send a follow-up with what working together would look like. If not, I’ll suggest where else might be a better fit. Either way, you’re not committing to anything by booking this call.

Common questions about the consultation
Do I need a GP referral or a diagnosis to book?
No. You don’t need a referral, a formal diagnosis, or any medical paperwork. Many people come to therapy while still working out what’s going on with their health, or with symptoms that don’t fit a tidy label. The consultation is about understanding your situation.
What happens in a free therapy consultation?
We’ll meet on a secure video call for about fifteen minutes. I’ll ask what’s been bringing this up for you, what you’re hoping might shift, and what you’ve already tried. You can ask anything you want about how I work. There’s no script, and no obligation to share more than feels comfortable.
How do I know if therapy can help with my health condition?
Therapy can’t take a chronic condition away, but it can change how much room it takes up: the disruption to your work, sleep, relationships, and sense of yourself. If you’re noticing anxiety, low mood, grief about how your life has changed, or exhaustion from managing symptoms and appointments, that’s the kind of weight therapy is designed for. The consultation is a chance to talk through your specific situation and get a real answer.
Will you push me to book ongoing sessions?
No. The point of the consultation is to help us both work out whether ongoing therapy with me is the right next step. If it is, we’ll talk through what working together would look like. If it isn’t, I’ll suggest where else might be a better fit. Either way, no pressure.
Is the call confidential?
Yes. The consultation is conducted via secure video call and covered by the same confidentiality standards as ongoing therapy. There are a small number of legal exceptions (risk to self or others, court orders) which I’d explain in detail at the start of our work together if you decide to go ahead.
