About Me
Welcome to The Remote Therapy Space. I’m Chris Hutchins-Joss, a qualified and accredited therapist with 15 years of experience in mental health care. I’m passionate about supporting individuals to overcome challenges, gain clarity, and lead more fulfilling lives.
Professional Background
My career began in the NHS, where I provided psychological support to individuals dealing with a wide range of mental health difficulties. During this time, I worked to develop one of the first ACT-based group therapies for Long Covid, addressing the unique challenges faced by those living with the condition. I’ve worked extensively with anxiety, depression, and the psychological impact of long-term health conditions, tailoring evidence-based approaches to each client’s unique needs.
Beyond the NHS, I spent two years working for a company that developed digital therapeutics using AI, exploring innovative ways to make mental health support more accessible and effective. Additionally, I’ve collaborated with leading organisations such as the British Heart Foundation and Diabetes UK, roles that deepened my understanding of the complex relationship between physical and mental health and how to support individuals adapting to life-changing diagnoses.
Accreditation and Qualifications
I am accredited with the British Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies (BABCP), ensuring that my practice meets the highest professional and ethical standards. My training includes post-graduate qualifications in CBT, extensive training in ACT, and additional training in supervision. I also work at Canterbury Christ Church University (CCCU), where I supervise trainee therapists, sharing my expertise to help shape the next generation of mental health professionals.
Therapeutic Approach
I believe that no one is broken; we all face moments of feeling stuck. Therapy with me is about exploring your values, understanding the barriers you face, and developing practical tools to help you move forward. I specialise in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), using these evidence-based approaches to guide clients toward meaningful change.
You can expect a supportive, non-judgmental space where we’ll work collaboratively to help you unhook from unhelpful thoughts and feelings, building resilience and reconnecting with what matters most to you.
