What matters to you?

When life gets taken over by symptoms, stress, or just busyness, it's easy to lose sight of what you actually care about. This short exercise helps you notice it again.

You'll sort a deck of values and narrow them to the handful that feel most like you. At the end you'll have a clear picture of your core values to keep, and if you'd like, I can email them over with a few simple ways to live them day to day.

There are no right answers and nothing to score. It takes about five minutes, and you can come back to it whenever you like.

This is a reflection tool, not therapy or assessment. If it stirs something up, that's worth talking through with someone you trust.

Sort each value by how much it matters to you — not what you feel you should value, or what others expect of you. There are no right answers and nothing is scored.

  • Go with your first instinct. If a word tugs at you, it probably matters. You can undo any card.
  • It's fine to mark lots as "matters a lot" — you'll narrow down to your top five afterwards.
  • You're noticing directions, not setting goals. The point is to see what you want your life to stand for.

How important is this to you — not to anyone else?

Now narrow it down

These are the directions you'd choose to live by, not the feelings you're chasing.

You marked these as mattering a lot. Choose up to five that feel most alive for you right now — the ones you'd least want to live without.

Your core values, today

What matters to you can shift over time, so hold this lightly. It's simply where you are today, and you can come back whenever you like.
